My Exchange Is Taking Too Long

What to do if your XMR exchange is delayed or seems stuck.

My Exchange Is Taking Too Long

Most exchanges complete in 5–20 minutes. If yours is taking longer, here's what to check.

Common Causes

Network Congestion

Blockchain networks can become congested during high-traffic periods:

  • BTC: Can take 30–60 min during peak times
  • ETH: Usually fast, but can slow during NFT mints or high gas periods
  • XMR: Consistent ~2 min blocks, but needs 10 confirmations

Low Transaction Fee

If you sent your deposit with a low fee, it may take longer to confirm. This is particularly relevant for BTC deposits.

Large Amounts

Orders above 50 XMR equivalent may require additional liquidity sourcing, adding 5–10 minutes.

What To Do

1. Check the deposit transaction on a block explorer

- Has it been broadcast? (It should appear as unconfirmed)

- How many confirmations does it have?

2. Wait for the required confirmations

- Different networks need different confirmation counts

- XMR needs 10 confirmations (~20 min)

3. Check our System Health page for any known issues

4. Contact support if your order has been stuck for more than 1 hour

Prevention

  • Use appropriate transaction fees when sending
  • Avoid exchanging during known network congestion events
  • Choose faster networks when possible (SOL, XRP are typically quickest)
