Protecting Yourself Against Crypto Scams

How to identify and avoid scams when exchanging XMR — phishing, fake sites, and social engineering.

Protecting Against Scams

The crypto space has many scams. Here's how to stay safe when using Ghost Exchange.

Verify the Official Domain

Always check that you're on the real Ghost Exchange website. Scammers create look-alike domains to steal funds.

  • Bookmark the official URL
  • Check for the padlock icon (HTTPS)
  • Never click exchange links from random messages or social media DMs

Common Scams to Watch For

Phishing Sites

Fake websites that look identical to Ghost Exchange but steal your deposit.

  • Always verify the URL carefully
  • Don't trust links from untrusted sources

Fake Support

Scammers impersonate Ghost Exchange support on Telegram, Discord, or Reddit.

  • Ghost Exchange will never DM you first
  • We will never ask for your private keys or seed phrase
  • We will never ask you to send funds to "verify" your wallet

Clipboard Malware

Malware that replaces copied crypto addresses with the attacker's address.

  • Always verify the first and last characters of an address after pasting
  • Use QR codes when possible to bypass the clipboard

Fake "Double Your Crypto" Schemes

No legitimate service will double your crypto. These are always scams.

If You've Been Scammed

  • Do not send any more funds
  • Document everything (screenshots, transaction hashes)
  • Report the scam to relevant authorities and the blockchain community
  • Ghost Exchange cannot reverse transactions, but our support team can help verify if a transaction reached our real infrastructure
