Exchanging Large Amounts
Ghost Exchange has no hard maximum, but large orders require some additional considerations.
What Counts as "Large"?
- —Standard: Under 10 XMR equivalent
- —Large: 10–100 XMR equivalent
- —Very large: 100+ XMR equivalent
What Happens with Large Orders
1. Our system checks available liquidity across all providers
2. The order may be split across multiple liquidity sources
3. Processing time may be slightly longer (additional 5–15 minutes)
4. The effective rate may differ slightly from the estimate due to slippage
Best Practices
- —Use fixed rate for large amounts to protect against slippage
- —Avoid peak congestion times — better liquidity during normal trading hours
- —Consider splitting very large orders (500+ XMR) into 2–3 smaller ones for faster processing
- —Double-check the address — mistakes with large amounts are costly
Rate Impact
For very large orders, the rate may include a small liquidity premium. This is shown transparently in the exchange widget before you confirm.
Privacy Considerations
Large on-chain transactions are more visible on transparent blockchains. The XMR privacy layer still protects the link between incoming and outgoing transactions, but consider:
- —Using multiple smaller swaps if you need maximum privacy on the non-XMR side
- —Spacing out large swaps over time
